TORONTO - TECA Canada proudly announces the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art community center in downtown Toronto. The 15,000-square-foot facility will serve as a hub for newcomer services, educational programs, and community gatherings.
"This new center represents a significant milestone in our organization's growth," said Maria Rodriguez, Executive Director of TECA Canada. "With this expanded space, we can help more families access the services they need to thrive in Canada."
Expanded Services
The new facility features:
- Five classrooms for language and skills training
- A computer lab with 20 workstations
- A commercial teaching kitchen for culinary programs
- A multipurpose hall for community events
- Private consultation rooms for settlement services
- A children's play area
The center will allow TECA Canada to increase its service capacity by approximately 40%, serving an additional 1,200 clients annually.
Community Impact
The project was made possible through funding from government grants, corporate donations, and community fundraising efforts. Local businesses contributed materials and services, while community volunteers assisted with painting and furnishing the space.
"This center truly belongs to the community," noted David Kim, Board Chair. "It was built through collaborative efforts and will serve as a gathering place for people of all backgrounds."
The center's location was strategically chosen for its accessibility by public transportation and proximity to neighborhoods with high newcomer populations.
An open house is scheduled for this Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM, with tours, refreshments, and information about upcoming programs and services.
